Smash Internal Ranking 24-25 Q2
4th of December 2024
At Zephyr, our competitive Smash players like to train seriously for a while and improve their gameplay. You can just come in and ask anyone to play some games and improve your matchup knowledge, or focus on your habits. Are you struggling against certain opponents or play styles? At Zephyr, we like to help each other out to improve, so feel free to ask your fellow players for advice. We have our own ranking system, complete with a challenge system and internal tournaments with Zephyr’s own competitive ruleset. Will you be our next top player? Join the internal ranking to find out.
Are you more of a casual Smash enjoyer? That’s perfectly fine. Besides serious training, we like to play some more casual games and often times other people come in for a game or two. During trainings, we also enjoy some random matches and doubles too. We even created a set of chaotic rulesets for anyone to experience. The internal ranking tournaments are always open to casual players as well, and other types of tournaments are also played sometimes.

Mathéo
Hello Smashers, I’m Mathéo (more known as Tanglad) and I’m a 20-year-old student at TU/e. I’m the current Chairman of the Smash Committee and I play a combination of Kazuya and Cloud because I like winning. I hope to meet some of you during Zephyr trainings or external events!
Unai
Hello to anyone reading this,
I’m Unai and I’m also the current Secretary of the Smash Committee. I go by the tag Unique, I know, super creative. This is currently my third year being part of Zephyr, and I supposedly have a good concept of how things work. I play the spacies with my main being the bird. If you have any questions or just wanna play some games, I’m always happy to help.
Kamiel
Hi, I’m Kamiel, but in-game go by the tag ‘muurverf’ (literal translation to English: wall paint). As should be pretty clear from this tag, my main is Inkling and have sent quite a bit of pain(t) to my opponents. I’m currently doing my third year of the bachelor Chemical engineering and Chemistry and my second year of the Smash Committee. Because I do not (yet) live in/around Eindhoven, I usually only attend one training per week.
Vincent
Hi everyone, my name is Vincent also known by my gamertag VincentG. I joined Zephyr in 2023 and mostly play Smash Ultimate competitively, but am also down to play some casual party games from time to time. I main Byleth because I like swordies and Fire Emblem, but often you’ll see me mess around with other characters during the training as well. This year I’m a first time member of the Smash Committee and finishing up my master at the TU/e. I also closely follow the competitive smash scene, so if you ever have any questions or just wanna geek out about that, you can always come to me.

To encourage competitive play within Zephyr, the Smash Committee keeps an Internal Ranking List, which tracks your skill relative to your fellow Smash players and can be found in the Zephyr Discord server. You get started at the bottom of the ranking, but fear not! You can improve your standing in two ways:
The Internal Ranking tournaments:
Every quartile (usually week 4), the committee hosts an offline Smash tournament in Fenix, open to all Zephyr members, both competitive and casual. With the results of the tournaments, the most drastic changes occur within the rankings. This means that the Internal Ranking tournament is a great way to climb to the top of the ranking.
The Challenge System:
Of course, during the quartile, you also have a way to climb in the ranking. With the Challenge System, you can challenge your fellow Smash players for their spot in the ranking.
